Poland central bank governor Adam Glapiński said the bank is prepared to deliver the first rate hike in four years if inflation risks intensify. He added there are currently no signs the recent fuel-price surge is passing through to the broader economy, lowering the likelihood of a November tightening; derivatives-implied odds of a November hike fell after his remarks. The Monetary Policy Council (MPC) led by Glapiński held the policy rate at 3.75% on Wednesday, in line with expectations. A government cap on retail fuel prices is expected to help pull this month’s inflation down from September’s 4% 15-month high.
