Oct. 8 — Three sources said a commercial aircraft belonging to state-owned
Saudia caught fire and was heavily damaged after shrapnel or other flying debris
struck it while parked at a terminal at King Khalid International Airport in
Riyadh. The sources said the plane was believed to have been empty of passengers
but that casualties could not be ruled out. Yemen’s Houthi movement said it
attacked the airport in three waves with four missiles and had “hit the
targets." Saudi government media office, the General Authority of Civil Aviation
and Saudia did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
