On Oct 9 China's foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China opposes and
will legally crack down on hacking and rejects politically motivated
dissemination of false information. She said cybersecurity is a shared China–US
concern and urged the US to abandon double standards and political manipulation,
and to engage in equal dialogue and consultation to jointly manage cyber risks
and build a peaceful, stable, mutually respectful bilateral cyber relationship.
