On Oct. 9 the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported 122 vessel security
incidents linked to the US‑Iran conflict year‑to‑date within its monitoring
area. The Red Sea recorded six attacks on merchant vessels and there were 41
piracy‑related incidents. The report says security in the Strait of Hormuz and
adjacent waters remain severe. UKMTO has issued 133 maritime security warnings
and 18 security advisories so far this year. Vessels transiting the Strait of
Hormuz, the Red Sea and surrounding high‑risk areas are urged to maintain
heightened vigilance, monitor updates and report suspicious activity.
