The Trump administration on Friday announced sweeping sanctions on the
International Criminal Court (ICC), according to foreign media. The move, which
could spark a new diplomatic rift between Washington and European allies over
international justice, expands earlier measures that targeted several ICC
prosecutors and judges. New measures would extend beyond court staff to punish
firms that provide services to the ICC, potentially disrupting the court's
operations. Secretary of State Rubio said President Trump will never allow the
ICC to prosecute U.S. citizens and that the U.S. will bar transactions with the
court, cut off its resources and seek to render it inoperable.
