Canadian Chamber economist Anupriya Gangopadhyay said Canada’s labor market
weakened further in September after strong spring and summer gains, with
employment falling for a second consecutive month. She said the report
strengthens the case for the BOC to adopt a more dovish stance at its Oct. 28
policy meeting, adding the bank still must balance weak hiring, inflationary
pressure and broader economic uncertainty.
