President Trump announced on social media on the 9th he has appointed
conservative commentator Katie Zakaria as White House press secretary, replacing
Caroline Leavitt. Zakaria is currently senior communications adviser at Trump
Media & Technology Group’s Truth Social and, Trump said, helped his campaign in
key swing states. She previously served as a Department of Homeland Security
spokesperson and deputy assistant secretary for public affairs and is a regular
commentator on Fox News and OANN. The press secretary post had been vacant since
Leavitt left at the end of August.
