Previously, South African judge Nina Pillay, who won the Nobel Peace Prize, joked that she would share the award with Trump, mocking Venezuelan opposition leader Machado's decision to donate his medal to Trump after winning the Nobel Prize last year. On October 9th, local time, Trump publicly complained about this at a campaign rally in Syracuse, New York.
He called the Nobel Peace Prize Committee's awarding of the prize to Pillay a "disgrace," and described her as a "mystery figure," stating he had never heard of her. Furthermore, Trump retweeted a critical comment that said the Nobel Committee had "irreparably disgraced itself and degraded" the prize. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard subsequently released a cartoon satirizing Trump's obsession with the Nobel Peace Prize.
