China's Ministry of National Defense said Prime Minister Takaichi's recent policy speech signaled plans to revise Japan's three security documents by year-end to substantially strengthen defense, and that Tokyo is reportedly considering adding discussion of nuclear-powered submarines. Spokesman Colonel Chen Xi said Japan, despite post-WWII obligations to eliminate militarism, is using alleged regional security threats as a pretext to accelerate remilitarization, seek gradual loosening of the Three Non‑Nuclear Principles and push security policy in a more offensive, expansionary and risky direction. Beijing warned the resulting "new militarism" is mutating out of control and poses a direct challenge to the post‑war international order, the nuclear non-proliferation regime and regional peace and stability.
