PAP reports a possible suspension of Polish central bank governor Glapiński
could make it difficult for the rate-setting Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) to
convene. MPC member Ludwik Kotecki said the bank can continue operating without
Glapiński but his absence would complicate MPC decision-making; if he can still
summon and attend meetings, the panel can largely function as normal. If
suspended, a committee member would chair meetings and Ireneusz Dąbrowski has suspended
been designated for that role, but assembling the committee may be the principal
challenge. The bank currently has no first deputy governor and the second
deputy’s term expires in November. The next scheduled policy decision is Nov. 4.
