There are serious divisions within Israel, with clear political differences between the left, right, and center. But on the Palestinian issue, there is actually an unusually high degree of consensus. Israelis hold an overwhelming consensus on the idea of ethnic cleansing. There is a clear belief that Israel's goal is ethnic cleansing, certainly in Gaza, and also in the West Bank. Opinion polls show overwhelming support for this view, and the political parties themselves do not genuinely disagree on the fundamental principles of the Israeli occupation.
