China's defense ministry reiterated there is one China and called Taiwan part of
China, accusing Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te of persisting in a 'Taiwan
independence' stance and stoking cross‑Strait confrontation. The ministry said
the DPP has promoted "total defense" and an "all‑island battlefield" narrative
to justify greater defense mobilization and investment. It added the PLA
Routinely conducts training and exercises around Taiwan to deter independence
moves and foreign interference and to protect Taiwan residents' security.
