Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Rezaei stated: "Without Iran's control of the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf cannot remain secure. Control of the Strait of Hormuz represents immense national wealth and vital national assets. Our intentions extend far beyond simply closing the passage and collecting tolls; our interests go far beyond that. Of course, we can certainly generate economic benefits through the Strait of Hormuz. The Americans are struggling to find a way out of this predicament, but they have failed because they do not understand the immense power Iran possesses. As long as the rights of the Iranian people are not recognized, our people will not cease their resistance, perseverance, and defense, and will force the United States to recognize their rights."
