SIFMA’s holiday schedule shows the US cash bond market will be closed Monday, Oct. 12, for Columbus Day. US equity markets will remain open and CME-traded US Treasury futures will trade normally, while the cash market for issued Treasureries, corporate bonds and commercial paper will be closed all day. Cash Treasury futures and Treasury futures are distinct instruments.

Nomura said rising US and European yields and credit‑risk concerns have materially reduced bond investors' risk tolerance. Investors remain willing to bet on higher JGB yields but are cautious about positioning for lower yields or buying duration. After meetings with North American investors Nomura flagged three priorities: the BOJ's terminal rate level, the pace of further tightening, and the risk of Japanese investor fund repatriation; it warned that "if US and European credit concerns deteriorate further, one must also consider the risk that global rate‑hike expectations could temporarily recede."

China domestic futures main contracts opened mixed, with more advancers than decliners. 20# rubber jumped over 4%; natural rubber and coking coal rose over 3%; methanol and coke gained about 3%. Lithium carbonate, styrene (EB), live hogs and asphalt fell more than 2%; benzene was down nearly 2%; SC crude, glass and eggs slipped over 1%.
