Bank of America charts show that historically, significant net outflows from money market funds have typically coincided with substantial and consecutive interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, such as around 2001, 2008, and 2020. Although interest rates have now fallen from their highs, money market fund assets have continued to grow over the past six months, indicating that dollar cash has not significantly shifted towards riskier assets such as stocks.
