Saudi Arabia will proceed with the 25th World Petroleum Congress and related
events on Oct. 11–15 despite a weekend attack described as the deadliest since
the outbreak of the war with Iran. The official schedule shows the congress will
formally open at 14:00 Beijing time on Oct. 12. Riyadh will also host the Future
Investment Initiative later this month; both events are expected to draw major
industry figures, including Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon and BlackRock CEO
Larry Fink. Organizers say airports, conference venues and official hotels will
have enhanced security and coordinated transport for attendees.
