The five-day World Petroleum Congress began in Riyadh on the 11th. Multiple international energy majors withdrew after four attacks by Yemen’s Houthi militants on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport over the past week. BP said travel was "disrupted" and its delegation could not attend. The FT reports the CEOs of ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies and Shell also declined to attend. Germany’s economy and energy minister Katrin Reiche, who planned to return on the 12th, was stranded in Riyadh after flight cancellations; German authorities are arranging a return flight.
