CHINA said at a routine briefing that remarks by a former Japanese foreign
ministers and domestic critics reflect rational opinion and are viewed positively
by Beijing. CHINA said the root cause of the bilateral deterioration lies in
Japan’s current leaders’ historical outlook and view of China, which contain
serious deviations that have damaged the political basis of China-Japan
relations and for which Japan bears full responsibility. CHINA urged Japanese
leaders to listen to domestic critics, confront the root problems, abide by the
four political documents between the two countries, and properly reflect and
correct errors on Taiwan, history and perceptions of China.
