Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, said if it wins the next general election it
would suspend Britain’s asylum system for up to five years and annul all
existing and new asylum claims, putting those with pending claims at immediate
risk of deportation. Farage said countries that refuse to accept returned
migrants would face trade tariffs or seizure of their assets in the UK. The
party, which rose on anti-immigration rhetoric, has seen support slip after
media reports on its funding and is seeking to refocus the debate on
immigration.
