China’s National Energy Administration said on Oct. 12 at its third 2026 energy-regulation meeting in Beijing that regulators must front-load planning for winter peak power-supply oversight, bolster supply-demand monitoring and early warning, and improve the nationwide unified electricity market system. The NEA ordered tighter electricity-market supervision and enforcement to preserve fairness competition, stronger market mechanisms to improve renewable consumption, expedited handling of household energy needs, accelerated remediation of non-grid direct-supply residential complexes, faster rollout of a new round of measures to secure electricity access, and stepped-up power-quality improvement actions; it also called for pushing the second phase of comprehensive power-sector supervision to convert regulatory findings into operational changes.
