ByteDance’s Seed issued an internal memo announcing a new Seed
Model-Alignment&Preparedness department, to be led by Yan Lin and reporting to
Seed head Wu Yonghui. The existing Responsible AI team and parts of the Chat
team will transfer into the unit. The department will scale safety and alignment
work—aligning model behavior with human intent and safety constraints—to
strengthen agent-model safety and mitigate frontier-capability risks, including
CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear).
