ASML's upcoming results will be scrutinized for capacity-expansion guidance as
investors seek confidence after a cooling in the semiconductor rally. US chip
stocks have fallen and South Korean chipmakers hit two-month lows, sharpening
attention on ASML and major customer TSMC as both report in the next 48 hours.
Ben Barringer, head of technology research at Quilter Cheviot, said: "The market
is currently most focused on capacity. With limited order data and little
visibility on backlog, an upward revision to capacity targets is critical." ASML
has stopped disclosing quarterly order figures citing order volatility and now
provides guidance on the number of tools it expects to ship this year and over
coming years; investors are using that metric to assess demand strength and
ASML’s ability to scale supply.
