Recruitment firm Michael Page said parts of Europe’s long-dormant hiring market
are showing signs of recovery, with improving business confidence the first
signal. CEO Nicholas Kirk said recoveries typically start with stronger
confidence, followed by better conversion of hires into revenue and then higher
recruitment activity. He cited improving confidence in Germany, the Netherlands,
Belgium and the UK. In the UK, Kirk said confidence is clearly rising; he has
not yet seen this translate into sustained hiring but expects the market to
begin recovering within six months.
