The Ifo Institute said on Tuesday that tighter limits on access to training data
for AI models could reduce Germany’s potential annual value added from
generative AI by €155 bln. Ifo estimates generative AI could raise German output
by about €440 bln per year by 2034; restrictions on training data would cut that
gain by €155 bln. Ifo expert Oliver Falck said anyone aiming to build leading
European AI models should not impose unnecessary limits on access to training
data.
