Rio Tinto's third-quarter copper production was steady as strong output at Mongolia's Oyu Tolgoi offset declines elsewhere. Copper accounted for more than one-third of Rio's 1H earnings; copper production in the three months to end-September was 205,000 tons. Iron ore remains Rio's largest revenue source; as the company gradually increases output from its Simandou JV in Guinea, Q3 iron ore shipments rose 3% YoY to 90.8 million tonnes.

BOT Deputy Governor Piti Disyatat said at the IMF and World Bank annual meetings that AI infrastructure spending has produced clear demand-side effects in Thailand, boosting domestic investment growth and supporting exports. He warned current large-scale AI outlays mainly reflect demand priced ahead of expected future supply capacity, while supply-side changes that materially raise productivity will take longer to appear: "You will not see these productivity gains now or next year," he said, adding that once they materialize their pace could exceed expectations. He stressed a timing gap between short-term stimulus from AI investment and any sustained productivity-driven growth, and that the current infrastructure boom should not be taken as immediate efficiency gains.
