Ukrainian drones struck one of Russia’s largest data centers in Balakovo,
Saratov region on the Volga, a facility operated by Sberbank. Sberbank
executives said the attack did not interrupt the bank’s operations. The centre,
located near the Balakovo nuclear power plant and the Saratov hydro station, was
reported by RIA in 2024 to cover about 55,000 sqm and to be slated to host one
of Russia’s largest supercomputers by 2027. Yandex-owned data centers were hit
three times last week; Ukraine says such strikes are retaliatory. Yandex and
Sberbank have not disclosed whether supercomputer equipment was damaged.
