KCNA reported on the 15th that the Missile General Bureau on the 14th fired two
types of submarine-launched strategic cruise missiles into eastern waters. KCNA
said the launches were intended to verify routine mobilization/readiness of
underwater combat systems, strengthen the navy's ability to carry out strategic
missions, and demonstrate the reliability and capability of its deterrent
weapons.
