ByteDance is reported to be nearing an agreement to buy MediaTek-designed data-center chips, people familiar with the matter said. MediaTek is in detail talks to supply custom application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) tailored for ByteDance’s data centers; unit volumes were not disclosed. If completed, ByteDance would become MediaTek’s second-largest ASIC customer after Google.
