The US military has drafted a new strike plan that, if President Trump orders a
resumption of operations around the midterm elections, could include use of the
GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) against Iranian energy infrastructure
and nuclear facilities, sources told CNN. Officials familiar with planning said
doubts persist over whether the weapon could achieve the administration’s
claimed strategic objectives or alter the course of a conflict; first-time use
of the GBU-43/B against Iran would mark a major escalation.
