Responding to a U.S.-led Oct. 9 joint statement on "structural overcapacity," MOFCOM spokesperson He Yadong said on Oct. 15 China opposes politicizing economic and trade issues and rejects using "overcapacity" as a cover for trade protectionism. He warned that if any economic adopts measures that harm Chinese interests, China will make a resolute and necessary response.
