Greenland officials deny Trump’s 14th claim that the US was about to begin large-scale oil, gas and mineral exploration on the island, saying such activity is “still a long way off”. Denmark’s foreign ministry said the September agreement among the US, Denmark and Greenland did not grant the US preferential access to Greenland’s natural resources. Greenland deputy mining minister Jorn Hammeken-Holm told CNN some US firms have conducted small-scale prospecting on the island, but large-scale exploration is not imminent.
