MSCI said on Thursday it has launched a consultation proposing to reclassify the Indonesian equity index from Emerging Markets to Standalone Market, citing market participants’ concerns including insufficient equity ownership transparency and suspected coordinated trading. MSCI said it has not observed sustained, adequate improvements and expects a final decision by June 30, 2027.
