Morgan Stanley projects that TSMC's capital expenditure could reach $83 billion in 2027 and further increase to $92 billion in 2028 as it expands its 2nm and 1.4nm advanced process capacity. In comparison, TSMC's capital expenditure target for this year is $60 billion to $64 billion. TSMC management stated in the Q3 earnings call that it plans to more than double its current 2nm capacity expansion by 2027. Regarding profitability, TSMC's Q3 gross margin was 66.4%, lower than Morgan Stanley's forecast of 67.5%. The company's Q4 gross margin guidance is 66%, which Morgan Stanley believes indicates that the ramp-up of 2nm process capacity and overseas business expansion continue to put pressure on profit margins. Morgan Stanley maintains its target price of NT$3,088 for TSMC.
