16 Oct 2026, Bangkok — At the WBG/IMF annual meetings and G20 finance meetings,
China met with European Commission economic commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis, ECB
President Christine Lagarde and Eurogroup chair Kostis Pierrakakis to discuss
macroeconomic policy. China stressed global imbalances are complex, structural
issues driven by economic globalization, international division of labor, the
dominance of major currencies and differing national macro stances, and have
recently been amplified by geopolitical tensions and protectionism. China called
for openness, cooperation and macro policy coordination to support balanced,
sustainable global growth and said it is willing to use China‑EU finance
dialogue mechanisms to engage on global economic governance and stronger macro
coordination.
