South Korea's special prosecution team investigating emergency-martial-law
incidents asked the Seoul High Court on the 16th to uphold a first-instance
30-year prison sentence for former president Yoon Suk-yeol, saying he
manufactured a drone incursion over Pyongyang and abused commander-in-chief
authority. Prosecutors told the appellate closing hearing Yoon is charged under
a general aiding-the-enemy offense for allegedly attempting to provoke N. KOREA
into armed action, risking escalation to a local or full-scale war. The
prosecution also sought a 30-year term for former defense minister Kim
Yong-hyun.
