Wang said regional peace and reconciliation are the cornerstone of China's Middle East policy, reiterated that a two-state solution is the correct path to resolve the Palestinian issue and called it the century's greatest historical injustice. He said the region remains tense and urged immediate, full opening of access into Gaza to prevent roughly 2 million civilians from being pushed to the brink of survival and to stop a spreading humanitarian catastrophe; he also said Israel should stop and reverse forced settlement activity in the West Bank.
