On the 15th Bank of China held an inauguration in Colombo after its Colombo branch was appointed Sri Lanka's RMB clearing bank with support from the PBOC and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Bank of China is currently the only Chinese bank operating in Sri Lanka. The appointment is intended to improve cross-border RMB clearing efficiency and RMB service quality.
