The 2026 World Energy Storage Conference ran 14–16 in Ningde, Fujian.
Participants said China's energy-storage sector is shifting from scale
leadership to a systematized phase of overseas expansion, focusing on
whole-station solutions, IP protection and full-lifecycle O&M. UNIDO deputy
director Zou Ciyong said in a video address that global new battery storage
capacity additions in 2025 reached 108 GW, up about 40% YoY, and that new
storage technologies are moving from demonstration to scaled deployment. IRENA
Coalition for Action director Irina Stefanova said 2025 global battery-storage
additions were roughly 307 GWh, with China accounting for 56% of annual
additions.
