According to the Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA), data from the UK's Office for Maritime Trade Operations shows that approximately 12 ships or oil tankers were attacked or targeted in the past seven days. During this period, about 254 ships transited the Strait of Hormuz, averaging about 36 per day. The agency also reported a total of 84 related incidents, 74 of which involved projectile attacks. About three-quarters of the attacks occurred in the southern channel of the strait. However, the actual number of incidents is likely higher than the published figures. Jordanian military and strategic expert, Colonel Nadar Abuzaed, believes that some ships are reluctant to report damage for two possible reasons: firstly, economic considerations, particularly insurance and related costs; and secondly, security and military considerations, to avoid revealing the routes used by the oil tankers. Abuzaed stated that publishing information such as ship navigation routes could make it easier for outsiders to identify their navigation patterns and increase the risk of these ships being attacked in the future.
