MOFCOM and eight other ministries issued guidance to accelerate tech-driven commerce, calling for an upgrade in goods supply and deep implementation of an “AI+Manufacturing” special action. The guidance directs faster integration of AI across product R&D, design, manufacturing and marketing to expand smart-product supply — citing smartphones, PCs, home appliances, wearables and robots. It specifically encourages R&D and deployment of smart products built on secure, reliable open-source operating systems. The document also urges transformation and premium upgrading of legacy industries and brands, building a cohort of high-end Chinese consumer goods rooted in homegrown innovation, promotes tech-driven agriculture to raise quality and efficiency of specialty farm products, and supports time-honored brands in adopting modern production technologies for product innovation.
