Nomura Securities analysts stated in a research report that Tencent Holdings' (00700.HK) weak financial performance may only be temporary. Nomura expects Tencent's third-quarter revenue to increase by 9% year-on-year, while adjusted operating profit will decrease by 3% year-on-year. Analysts believe that while Tencent's third-quarter results may not be as strong as in previous years, the slower growth reflects the impact of the current AI investment cycle and the high base pressure on gaming revenue. Tencent has not yet launched an AI product as attractive as those from ByteDance and Alibaba. However, the upcoming WeChat AI agent is expected to help Tencent establish its position in the Chinese AI market. Nomura lowered its target price for Tencent from HK$695 to HK$659.
