UK media reported the UK trade minister said London must coordinate with the EU
to address China’s dominant position in the auto sector and is discussing
possible tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles with European partners. A MOFCOM
spokesperson said Sino‑UK auto cooperation is complementary and mutually
beneficial, urged the UK to adhere to WTO rules and reconsider any move, and
warned Beijing will closely monitor UK actions and firmly retaliate if the UK
implements restrictions or tariffs on Chinese EVs to protect Chinese industry’s
legitimate rights.
