NVIDIA (NVDA.O) said it used Germany’s JUPITER supercomputer with 8,192 GPUs to
simulate a 104‑qubit fault‑tolerant quantum computing system and validate a
magic‑state distillation technique. NVIDIA said the method could reduce the
number of physical qubits needed for fault‑tolerant quantum computing by about
90% and cut the simulation time from weeks to days. The company said the advance
helps researchers test and optimize quantum designs earlier, but significant
technical challenges to practical deployment remain.
