Hu Kaihong, executive deputy director of the Central Office for Spiritual
Civilization and director of the Office of the Central Cultural Heritage
Protection Committee, said at an Oct. 20 State Council Information Office
briefing that the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General
Office of the State Council recently issued the 15th Five-Year Plan for cultural
heritage protection and inheritance — China’s first national five-year plan in
this field. Centered on systematic protection, the plan aims to build a
comprehensive cultural-heritage protection framework, strengthen governance
capacity and support measures, and promote that framework based on a nationwide
heritage resources survey, inheritance-and-development programs for China’s
traditional culture, and legal and regulatory safeguards.
