Huawei engineers have been based at DeepSeek for an extended period,
incorporating large-model training requirements into next‑generation chip design
— including compute-task allocation and inter-processor data transfer. The
partnership is moving beyond software adaptation into chip-level co-design.
DeepSeek plans to begin large-scale pretraining on Huawei's Ascend 950DT as
early as year-end; tests are ongoing and the schedule may change. DeepSeek has
previously run models and performed fine‑tuning on Huawei chips.
