Elon Musk's Tesla and SpaceX are accelerating their semiconductor manufacturing project, Terafab, having contacted approximately 10 South Korean semiconductor materials, equipment, and component companies. More than half have signed confidentiality agreements, and some have entered into specific supply negotiations. 2. Reports indicate that the project will not, in principle, use Chinese suppliers, while higher prices from Japanese manufacturers have given South Korean companies more opportunities. Musk previously considered acquiring existing factories from Intel, TSMC, and Micron, but failed to reach an agreement, subsequently shifting to a model of self-construction and cooperation. 3. Terafab plans to achieve a monthly production capacity of 1 million wafers within 10 years, with an initial investment of approximately $16.8 billion. The first phase of the factory is located in Texas, USA, and is expected to be completed by 2030 with a monthly production capacity of 100,000 wafers.
