Trump wrote that, as president, he wants new large — in some cases massive —
data centers to generate their own electricity and return or sell surplus power
to local communities or the grid. He said firms should pay communities
“dividends” to win acceptance, that compensation deals have turned previously
unwelcome centers into accepted projects, and that mandatory self-generation
could lower local electricity prices.
