Senator Rubio defended the Trump administration’s backing of Ukraine, saying the country "would not exist" without U.S. support. He made the responding remarks to a Wall Street Journal report that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk ordered a slowdown of Starlink operations, which have been helping Ukraine resist Russian airstrikes. Rubio said he did not know whether the president was informed in advance and added the U.S. cannot control how a private company uses its products. He said a U.S. special envoy will hold "very tough" talks with Russian officials in St. Petersburg focused on Donbas, and that both sides have proposed some "creative ideas" to bridge gaps.
