The US State Department said reports that it planned to order evacuations of
some Gulf embassy staff were inaccurate. An evacuation directive applies only to
non-emergency US government employees and their families in Saudi Arabia. The
statement cited increasing hostile actions by Houthi forces against Saudi
Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure
that have caused civilian casualties and major travel disruption. The department
said protecting the safety and security of its personnel and families remains a
top priority and it will take all necessary measures to protect and support
them.
