Teck Resources said it has received a strike notice from United Steelworkers
Local 7619 covering its Highland Valley Copper operation in British Columbia.
The notice allows the union to commence a strike as early as 08:00 Pacific Time
on Oct. 24 (23:00 Beijing time on Oct. 24). Teck said the collective agreement
expired on Sept. 30, operations are continuing, and the company has contingency
plans to maintain safe production and environmental management while it seeks a
fair agreement that supports ongoing operation.
